How to Wear Office Wardrobe Outside the Office – guest post by Amy Mia Goldsmith
Is there anything more satisfying than shopping? The fun of being surrounded by endless choices of beautiful clothes, the feel of soft fabrics in our hands, even the ache in our feet after we’ve been walking around the mall for hours. If only we had unlimited funds so we could indulge our every fantasy and wear a different piece each time we go out. Since we generally don’t bathe in waterfalls of money on a daily basis and there are many obligations to juggle, sometimes it’s hard to figure out which outfits to wear. Fortunately, you don’t need to rob a bank to be able to look stylish throughout the whole day. Most of the pieces you wear to work can actually function amazingly well in a more casual surrounding. If you want to know how to combine your office wardrobe with your evening wear and weekend outings, there are easy ways to accomplish that.
Regardless of how strict the dress code is, you can always rely on a good pair of pants to make you look sharp. Pleated pants are appropriate for just about any workplace, and once the office hours are done you can pair them with a nice silk blouse for a classy look, or simple cotton shirt for something more relaxed. You can always soften any look with the addition of pastels or bright floral patterns, so your tapered office pants can be made perfectly casual if you pair them with a shirt in vivid colours or summery prints.
A good pencil skirt is easy to combine with just about anything, and it’s one of the best pieces to own. Choose a lacy top and some sexy heels for your evening wear, or grab a leather jacket if you want to try a rocker chick kind of look. Pencil skirts can be dressed up or dressed down depending on your need, so a simple loose-fitting, casual shirt with stripes or a logo is going to look effortlessly chic for your Sunday barbecue. For comfort, wear simple flats, or even Chucks, and if you are going out to a restaurant a pair of stilettos are going to elongate your legs and make you look hot as hell.
A little black dress is iconic for a reason, and it’s always good to invest in one that fits your body shape perfectly. It’s elegant regardless of the time of year and the occasion, and it can easily be modified to suit your needs. Wear it with some chunky, colourful jewellery and strappy sandals, and you’re ready for a party. If you don’t like black or want something a little different for summer, cute boutique dresses are still a good option because they are versatile. A collared, button up dress in a solid colour or a beautiful floral print are good choices for hot weather, just pick light, breathable materials.
Blazers seem like the hardest pieces to wear outside the office, but they can actually complement casual outfits really well. If you want to go for edgy, consider wearing tight leather pants and long boots with your classic black blazer, or pair it with your favorite pair of ripped skinny jeans. Short skirts and casual tops can be made more elegant with a blazer, and if you pair it all with an XXL bag you’ll have the perfect stylish outfit for the day.
We spend a lot of our time at work, so it’s only natural we wish to invest in quality outfits that make us look professional. But the good thing is that most of these outfits can be reconstructed and pieces can be used for our everyday casual wear, so we don’t need to sell our kidney every time we want to look good. Pick versatile pieces that can easily be combined and you’ll save yourself both time and money.
